World Premier of Norbert Sport Camera/Accessory mount
Apr 23rd
K-Tek expands its Norbert line of camera support products with the introduction of the Norbert Sport. Perfect for filmmakers wanting a solid, versatile camera mount for handheld shooting, Norbert Sport provides DSLR and small-format high-definition video cameras with comfortable hand-holding and accessory mounting options.
The Norbert Sport uses two, lightweight, foam-covered carbon-fiber hand grips and aluminum top and bottom mounting plates to securely mount select production accessories such as digital recorders, microphone mounts, or small LED lights. Weighing roughly 1.5 pounds, the carbon fiber side handles have comfortable and grippy foam covers. Handles have adjustable height and use a secure collar/collet system. The top bar offers nine shoe mounts, six 3/8 x 16 threaded mounts, and five 1/4 x 20 mounts. The bottom bar comes with a quick release/tripod mount and can use standard 15mm rods with K-Tek’s iris rod adapter.
Norbert Sport adds to the successful Norbert line of camera supports. The original Norbert frame, which is also available is perfect for more comprehensive setups because of its near-limitless combination of shoe mounts and threaded adapters.

K-Tek Introduces Tadpoles™ for Extended Reach
Apr 20th
K-Tek, makers of the industry’s favorite boom poles, has the ideal solution for holding the new generation of handheld recorders and tiny cameras like the GoPro.
Convenient and Lightweight, K-Tek Tadpoles™ feature the same quality materials and craftsmanship as K-Tek’s trademark boom poles but in a shortened form to give the user added reach. They pack up in one-foot (30 cm) or two-foot (35cm) lengths and can extend up to 3’ (91cm) depending upon the model.
The Tadpole Short is a 3-section aluminum mini boom pole with a mini ball head fixed to a 1/4×20 threaded stud. The ball head helps position the device any way the operator chooses. Collapsed, it’s as small as 1’ and extends to 2’. The Tadpole Long is 4 sections and collapses to 1’2” (35cm) and extends to almost 3’ (91cm).
Tadpoles are made in the USA. For further information, contact: K-Tek, 1384-F Poinsettia Ave., Vista, CA 92081; Ph. 760-727-0593; Fax 760-727-0693; www.ktekbooms.com
Innovision Adds Spintec Rain Deflectors for HD DSLR cameras
Apr 20th
Innovision Optics, now offers the Spintec lightweight rain deflector for HDSLRs. This smart new tool allows for shooting in rain, snow or other heavy water conditions without a gyro effect when panning and tilting.
Spintec deflects rain and snow instantly by spinning a specially designed glass filter 3000 times per minute. Water splashes and raindrops are instantly removed through the centrifugal effect of the spinning filter. A vacuum effect removes any lighter show flakes that are not removed by the centrifugal movement.
The unit easily mounts on professional 75 to 105mm diameter lenses with either internal or external focus. For internal focus lenses the Spintec simply snaps on. External focus lenses are mounted via special brackets attached to standard 15mm rods.
The Spintec operates directly off the camera battery via a 12-volt power supply and draws just 700 amps, under 10 Watts. It can also run off 115V AC.
This revolutionary system has already proven its worth in a multitude of extreme conditions for projects such as the Original Productions series “Deadliest Catch” which airs on The Discovery Channel.
The RD105 kit includes sunshade, power cable and a special camera cover. It is available for rental or sale from Innovision Optics.
